Assistant Value Manager / Technical Editor $50000 – 60000 per year

Assistant Value Manager / Technical Editor We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Value Manager / Technical Editor to support senior consultants in the facilitation of value studies, design charrettes, and other client-facing activities. This position also involves the preparation, review, and editing of technical reports. Work related to this role is currently taking place in a virtual environment due to COVID-19 travel restrictions and safety concerns. Travel to client locations may be required in the future. There is the potential for upward progression to a consulting position based on performance and demonstrated aptitude.


  • Support the development, QA/QC, and submittal of project reports, other project deliverables and marketing content:
  • Compile report information developed in preparation for and during project studies
  • Generate content, proofread, edit, format, and compile draft and final reports
  • Ensure report formats are consistent with standards for each client
  • Organize project data
  • Manage project documents in SharePoint, Google Drive, ShareFile, etc.
  • Update project status and other related information in Ajera (VMS accounting and project management database)
  • Follow VMS standards pertaining to quality, client requirements, processes, and procedures
  • Air travel up to 40% may be required (after COVID-19 health and safety concerns lessen) to assist on 3- to 10-day Value Engineering (VE) studies and other workshops. On-site tasks are directed by the VMS team leader and may include:
  • Meeting logistics and coordination
  • Developing templates
  • Preparing handouts
  • Taking meeting minutes
  • Reviewing content
  • Administrative errands
  • Support management and quality team with miscellaneous administrative tasks as directed (examples: book rooms and conference space for VE team; coordinate catered lunch for team meeting; draft flyers for conferences; sort and compile project metrics)
  • Continuously develop work-related skills and knowledge. Observe, learn, and apply the skills you learn on other projects.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Excellent working knowledge and experience with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Adobe
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong written communication
  • Experience in similar role preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in business and/or technical studies
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience

  • Home Office – must be able to have a home office capable of supporting work requirements and on-line meetings (Zoom, etc.) without being disturbed. Computers, etc. will be provided by the company.
  • Geographically – Western US preferred but not required.


  • Salary range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000 depending on experience and capabilities. VMS offers competitive compensation and excellent health care benefits, 20 days personal time off, 9 holidays per year, bonus plan and matching 401k Plan
