Senior Software Engineer, Android, Nest Apps $132000 per year

As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. At Google Nest we are building the helpful home; a home that takes care of the people inside it and the world around it. Our vision is one of intuitive and cross-surface experiences that wrap the best of our first-party hardware (Google and Nest devices) and our third-party ecosystem around the foundation of the Google Assistant. The helpful home is for everyone. We are a team of mobile development engineers that builds features in the Google Home app (i.e., on iOS and Android), where users experience Google Nest.

The Google Nest team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from Nest thermostats to Nest smart displays. The Nest team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

Additional Information
(Colorado only*) Minimum salary of $132,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
*Note: Disclosure as required by sb19-085 (8-5-20) of the minimum salary compensation for this role when being hired into our offices in Colorado.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver whole home solutions.
  • Participate in building the Android Home app core infrastructure to support the Nest smart home devices.
  • Work with dedicated UX and PM teams to help build the best user experience for our products.
  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience with iOS or Android application development.
  • 3 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, and/or debugging.
